Gabriele Navickaite is a first year student at Vilnius University faculty of social science. She was born in Kaunas, in a small city in Lithuania. She was a student at Kaunas Jonas Jablonskis gymnasium. Also she was a part of the biggest youth organisation in the world - “AIESEC”, in organisation for half a year Gabriele was team leader of a sales team, and for one year she was a vice president of sales in AIESEC KTU. After she graduated high school she decided to get start the field of social science. These studies will help her to be a professional journalist.
There are many reasons why Gabriele Navickaite wants to become a journalist. She loves the difference between people and the stories they hold. She wants to be that person who always will be between different people for example diplomats, businessmen, drug addicts, or homeless. Gabriele wants them to walk away with something they can share with everyone around them. She wants to help to understand that no matter what they are - everyone has a story to share. Also she is interested in photography, she likes to tell story with photos.
Outside of her studies she is engaged in photography, so she has not only academic knowledge but also experience. In August 2018 Gabriele was in Georgia near South Ossetia and Abkhazia, partially recognized republics. She was taking the photos and holding the interviews of people living near a occupation line. She is also responsible, active, self aware and solution oriented. These qualities make her trustworthy as a journalist.
Gabriele Navickaite is doing many unusual things. One of them was in June 2018, she was traveling around 12 countries in Europe and west Asia, for two months by hitchhiking, with a huge backpack. Also every night she slept in a tent on the road. In this trip she collected many photos and stories of stranger people who she met in journey.
